She Wants the Finer Things In Life

My third wife, Darla Jean, thought when she became Mrs. Bobcat that life was going to be a breeze. Instead, she got caught in a cyclone of country music madness being married to a legendary country music cowboy. She chose spending money as her self-medication. I tried to get her to stop sending in all those applications for credit cards. She maxed several out before I knew anything about it. Unfortunately, the bankruptcy judge blamed me for her luxury lifestyle. So much for feminism. And the judge was a gal herself! (Legal disclaimer: this song ain't about Darla Jean!)

lyrics

I don't know if the following drawings from the video will choke you up or not, but I'm chancing they won't...

Darla Jean, if you're reading this, these lyrics don't apply per my lawyer...

It's a hard life and I work all day,
I work all week for my take-home pay.
And when I get home she's at the door,
She grabs my check and always wants more.
What we got is enough,
There's no room for more stuff.
(that's why I gotta to say)

She wants the finer things in life.
She wants the finer things in life.
A trip to Vegas in a brand new car,
Champagne, crackers, and caviar.
But one thing she don't want,
And that's me.

It's a hard life and I work all day,
But this week I'm gonna hang onto my pay.
She'll be waiting with her hand stuck out,
I'm not gonna yield and she's gonna pout.
Balancing our accounts,
And nothing better not bounce.
(that's why I gotta say)

Now it's winner lose all at the shopping mall,
She gets moody and bored.
We're all maxed out and all taxed out,
We're living standard and poor.

She wants the finer things in life.
She wants the finer things in life.
A trip to Vegas in a brand new car,
Champagne, crackers, and caviar.
But one thing she better want,
And that's me!
