Not Tonight Dear I Have a Heartache

You guys know the feeling. You're all excited about being with your girl when suddenly she puts the kabash on your plans. She's just not in the mood. This song deals with this painful social problem. Bob Dylan, eat your heart out!

Here's the video:

Not Tonight Dear I Have a Heartache

Some selected scenes from the video as illustrated by famous artist Lester Picasso:

Here are the lyrics...

I was driving home on a Friday night,
The week's work done, I was feeling right.
Picked up supper at the drive through,
The package store to get some brew.
A bird in the hand's worth two in the bush,
Tonight's gonna be just the two of us.

Absence made my heart grow fonder,
I was soaring in the wild blue yonder.
Drove my truck up our driveway,
Pictured her in her negligee.
Opened the front door and there she stood,
But when she spoke I lost my manhood.

(She said) Not tonight, dear, I have a heartache.
There's someone else in my life.
I don't know if I can feel the same again,
Or remain your loving wife.

I dropped my beer and bucket of chicken,
In a flash, I felt something sickening.
She stood there shaking in her bathrobe,
Now, I'm a man of patience, but I ain't no Job.
I said, "Good grief, honey, what in tarnation?"
She sat me down and explained the situation.

Seems I was getting long in the tooth,
She had the nerve to call me uncouth.
Her eyes had spied greener landscape.
And while I listened with my mouth agape,
She confessed her love for another man,
And that was that for my romantic plans.

All her friends were talking 'bout him,
His thick hair, blue eyes, and waist so trim.
He showed up weekly on cable TV,
One of them shows about reality.
For her it was more than fantasy,
For me it's a date with infamy.

She yammered how he was so cute,
Well, if you ask me, her point was moot.
I said I'll enlist in a gym membership,
We can finally take a honeymoon trip.
I'll go on a diet and wear a toupee,
Besides, that TV star's probably gay.
I'm just saying. I think I saw that on the internet.
