My dog Barkley he likes to ride,
In my old truck right by my side.
He wags his tail and barks 'cause he's so sweet.
Now, let me explain this little episode,
Last night I woke up on the side of the road,
With Barkley sittin' in the driver's seat .
A cop told me to walk the line,
Then, he busted me for DUI.
I said I ain't the driver of this here truck.
He said there's no one else around,
And you walked that line like a circus clown.
Now, buddy, I'm thinking I'm out of luck.
I told that police my analysis,
(I said) I'm no Einstein, but here's my hypothesis…
My dog drives my truck.
I don't know how he does it,
But don't question my good luck.
He's my designated driver,
And I always arrive alive-er.

The cop told me that I could go,
Under one condition, if my dog could show...
That he knew how to drive my old truck.
So I laid down on the tailgate,
(Said) It's been real, but it's getting late,
I yelled to Barkley go ahead and take us home.
I gave that policeman a high five,
As Barkley shifted my truck into drive.
All because…
My dog drives my truck.
I don't know how he does it,
But don't question my good luck.
He's my designated driver,
And I always arrive alive-er.
